The integrated FEUU IPA (International Union of Students), is a full member of the OCLAE (Latin American and Caribbean Continental Organization of Students). It has a voice in the Bureau Representative of the PIT-CNT (InterUnion Workers National Confederation of Workers).
Many companions passed by the Federation throughout its history (70 years) and each contributed his bit to form what is today FEUU. During the period of dictatorship in our country lived between 1973 -1984 the Federation was one of the organizations that opposed the military dictatorship. That position led to his banishment. Although this was one of the social actors who helped bring an end to this black chapter in our history through their demonstrations and actions. Today is the umbrella organization the greatest number of University Students of our country, participates in all areas of co-governance of the University of the Republic and is the key reference in all that concerns the University Students of Uruguay. It consists of Student Centers operating in each faculty or school, these, through internal elections to each center, elect their representatives in the FEUU and from there develop projects and coordinate activities with other college students. Its highest decision-making body is the Convention, held every two years, which sets the policies and strategies to be followed by the Federation and was elected Executive Board, which together with the Federal Council routinely implement policies set by the Convention.

The Federal Council meets weekly, every student center it has two regular delegates who are responsible for attending meetings and carrying each center the subjects are trying to take position on them and be voted on later. Much of the work done is carried out by the various committees that work around the Federation which are composed of the various Centers peers and work on a wide range of topics.

The main objective is to defend the rights FEUU of students and represent them before the other institutions and organizations, both nationally and internationally, taking into account the basic principles postulated by the Student Movement.

We could talk about two major fields of action FEUU:

1. The political union:
The political representation makes FEUU-union of Students, being in direct contact with the Government and other government agencies. Therefore, part of its activities are defined according to the circumstances and time politician who is living as part of his baggage conducting workshops and outreach and awareness of students as well as society as a whole.
2. The academic:
The FEUU reflects objectives of developing and strengthening academic and cultural rights of students.

The Scholarship includes: research and study materials for a period of 6 years, uniform, tunic, personal hygiene materials, food, medical and dental care, housing, minimum wage in pesos and transportation from the airport to the University.
